Sparc is a Valleys Kids Youth Arts Project; throughout Lockdown we have been working
with Bethan Marlow our lead artist on a commission with the Wales Millennium Centre.
During Lockdown the whole project went online – allowing us to working with Bethan in our weekly sessions – she hails from North Wales and lives in Miami!
Our work focuses on the theme of power – the story so far…
The Penygraig Youth Theatre is heading into a virtual storm – creating an original devised piece of work.
Our ‘Flight Wings’ group of young adults are crafting a wicked parody mirroring their outrageous sense of humour.
The Penyrenglyn group are all aboard the ‘Charabanc’ celebrating our incredible communities in the Rhondda, combining theatre, role work and animation.
The Rhydyfelin Youth Theatre are creating a film around the theme of ‘Disruption’ and our ‘Pencil Breakers creative writing group will create our own Poets Paper. We have an amazing song created ready to share with the world;
we are working with local emerging artists and new groups being set up in the Centre.
At Sparc our groups are local and inclusive, a high number of the young people who attend are disabled, care experienced and from the LGBTQ+ community, we work alongside the Wales Millennium Centre with young people from Black, Asian and
ethnically diverse backgrounds – our work is created and made by the young people and everyone is welcome.
