Managing Anxiety – Understand the terms ‘anxiety’ and ‘panic attack’. Know causes of anxiety. Know symptoms of anxiety. Understand how anxiety can affect the individual and the individual’s friends and family. Understand how different ways of thinking and behaving can affect anxiety. Understand how anxiety can be managed
Anger Management – Know how own emotions relate to behaviour. Know that anger can be used in a positive manner and used in a negative manner. Know external and internal changes that happen to our bodies when we become angry. Be able to use an anger management technique. Know how to respond to situations using passive, aggressive or assertive behaviour. Know the possible consequences of aggressive, passive and assertive behaviour.
Resilience Skills – Understand resilience and its impact. Understand how to develop an individual’s resilience. Be able to develop resilience skills.
Confidence Building – Know about confidence. Know how communication skills can contribute to improving confidence. Know about decision-making and associated emotions and feelings. Know how having goals/targets can increase confidence.
Stress Management – Understand stress and its possible causes. Define stress. Describe causes of stress. Know the symptoms of stress. Describe possible physical symptoms of stress. Describe possible psychological symptoms of stress. Know how stress can be managed. Describe what can be done to manage levels of stress. Describe relaxation techniques. Take part in and assess a relaxation technique. Develop a personal plan for reducing and managing stress.
