Family Art Activity 4: Salt Dough Easter Eggs

Salt Dough Easter Eggs

  • 2 cups of plain flour,
  • 1 cup of salt,
  • ¾ cup of water,
  • 1 teaspoon of cooking oil (optional)

  • Mixing bowl
  • Tea-cup
  • Rolling pin
  • Cutters (or a piece of oval card as a template to cut around)
  • Poster paint
  • String

Mix the flour and salt together in a bowl.

Add the water (and the oil if you are using oil)

Mix the ingredients together to make dough.

Knead the dough and roll out onto a flat surface (sprinkle a little flour on the surface not for the dough to stick).

Create the shapes you want using a template or cutters, don’t forget to make a hole in them if you want to hang them up.

Bake in the oven for up to 1 hour at 180/200 degrees

Let them cool and they will be ready to paint.

We would like to send special thanks to Jan and Albie who have provided us these beautiful pictures of their hard work!
